Sunday Six…

This is from my sweet historical….

Isabella’s life depends on Samuel believing she’s Sara…

“Samuel. Glad to finally meet you.”

He stood staring at her hand. “I thought your hair was red?”

“It is in the right light,” Sara stammered, hand still extended.

Samuel looked up at the bright cloudless sky and arched an eyebrow.

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to visit all the great Sunday Six ~

Gremlins attack my blog

So I had Monday’s blog was going to kick off the week at looking how I set up a new WIP.

It didn’t post 😦

So I unscheduled the rest of the week. Woke up Tuesday and NO power at home. Of course, because I’m living in spin backwards mode for the last two weeks we have power at work.

But all my blogs are saved on my computer at home.

So hopefully Wednesday, everything will work out and I can actually post something.

Stress busters ~ Day #4

Nothing like a good book to read to escape reality.  So for days stress escape for I’m adding a $10 gift certificate for B&N to the gift bundles. Candles, bath cookies, tea and now a good book if that can’t make any day good well, I’m sorry.

Here are a few of my favorite reads.

Just read this one….

The Princesses of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George

The Brothers Grimm tale The Twelve Dancing Princesses is vibrantly retold and set in a fictionalized nineteenth-century Europe. Galen, a soldier (and knitter) returning home from war, encounters an old woman who gives him an invisibility cloak and yarn possessing magical powers. While working as a gardener at the palace, he encounters the princess, Rose, and her 11 younger sisters. Because of a secret bargain their mother made with the evil King Under Stone, the princesses are cursed to dance each night till their shoes are worn ragged. Aided by the good magic held in his yarn, Galen solves the puzzle that has stumped many a prince and earns Rose’s love and hand in marriage. Though cursed and in need of rescue, the sisters are feisty and cunning—not passive victims of their fate. Galen’s magical knitting patterns will appeal to teens fond of this trendy hobby. This is a well-realized and fast-paced fantasy-romance that will find favor among fans of fairy tales, feisty heroines, and dashing young men with strength, cunning, and sensitivity.

Loved it but it’s really for a young audience so if you’re looking for a complex story it’s not here but the story and characters are great and after a long day at the day job dealing with horrors that emotional impaired kids have lived through to become emotional impaired this was the ideal escape.

I just read the latest release in the series ~ Wicked ~ with some series you can jump in anywhere but I wouldn’t suggest it with this one.  Pick up book one and enjoy.

Ethereal (Celestra Series) ~ book 1 by Addison Moore

Sixteen year-old, Skyla Messenger is a dead girl walking.

When her newly remarried mother moves the family to Paragon Island, to a house that is rumored to be haunted, Skyla finds refuge in Logan Oliver, a boy who shares her unique ability to read minds.

Skyla discovers Logan holds the answers to the questions she’s been looking for, but Logan’s reluctance to give her the knowledge she desires leaves her believing Logan has a few secrets of his own.

Skyla’s bloodlines may just be connected to the most powerful angelic beings that roam the earth, and the more she knows, the more danger she seems to be in.

Suddenly an entire faction of earthbound angels wants her dead, at least she still has Logan, or does she?

As for an author that is a guarantee read for me – Jim Butcher.  I love both of his series. The Dresden Files and Codex Alera.

So what are some of favorite reads to escape the world and all the stress for a short time?
